As part of my ongoing commitment to volunteer my time and talents to support worthwhile causes and organizations, I recently had the enormous pleasure of working with an organization whose mission is very near and dear to my heart.
The Climate Initiative aims to empower future climate leaders by embracing people from all over the world to build a diverse community and spread climate change awareness. Their mission is to reach 1,000,000 youth with climate education that leads to climate action.
Each year, the organization hosts a National Educators Retreat. This year, over 85 educators from over 30 states will gather in Maine to deepen their knowledge of climate education. Attendees will receive souvenir shirts and other merchandise to commemorate the event and continue to spread the word about The Climate Initiative’s message.
I was tasked with creating the shirt design, which needed to reflect the event theme: Climate Education IS Climate Action!
I was given a great deal of creative freedom. The only guidelines were: 1. Incorporate iconography if possible, as that is an important element of the organization’s brand; 2. Ensure the type is easy to read from a distance and a prominent part of the design; 3. Keep the design to white ink only on a teal-colored shirt.
The entire process of creating this design with my designated organization contacts was an absolute dream. After providing several initial concepts and receiving wonderful preliminary feedback, I am thrilled with the final design and so honored to be a part of supporting this important organization.
I received the following feedback upon completing the project:
“Stephanie is an AMAZING designer! We absolutely love the logo she designed for our upcoming Educator Retreat. Not only did she totally *get* us, but her communication, attention to detail, and flexibility were so professional, it made her an absolute joy to work with. She’s passionate about her work and her volunteerism, and we couldn’t have asked for a better designer to work with!” – Kate K., Director of Operations & Impact, The Climate Initiative
